1 Night, 2 Boroughs, 3 Alarm Fires

A pair of building fires ignited almost simultaneously in Queens and Manhattan early Monday morning, which left officials scratching their heads while licking their wounds. Over a hundred firefighters battled the dual blazes, with a handful sustaining serious injuries. Even stranger, officials couldn’t figure out the cause of either  fire. In Queens, the mysterious flames focused on a three-story commercial building in Bayside, destroying a furniture store, an ice cream shop and a few apartments. The other was on West Broadway in Soho, causing considerable damage to the building that houses the Emporio Armani clothing store. Thankfully, no deaths were reported, but consumers of high-end menswear really took one on the chin. Until the scene gets cleaned up, we might have to endure Soho men looking slightly less dapper than usual.
