Back in my day, “social drinking” entailed a bartender who hadn’t yet cut you off and a relatively clean-looking floozie tottering on an adjacent stool. It seems that we’ve come a long way since then, thanks mainly to creative communal events like this. The New York City Social Sports Club has made those lonely, gin-soaked nights nothing but a (thankfully) hazy memory. NYCSSC, a bastion of adult social networking via quasi-athletic leagues and contests, is hosting a day of co-ed beer drinking and revelry. Teams compete in Flip Cup, Four Square and Rock Paper Scissors (sans requisite Germanic Beerfestian nemeses). The winners will abscond with the dubious honor of being champion beer drinkers, as well as a gratis season of NYCSSC fun. Let the drinking begin.
