FALL FOR DANCE FESTIVAL

By Susan Reiter

The New York City Ballet will dance right alongside Elizabeth Streb’s fearlessly slamming bodies. The work of landmark moderns such as Paul Taylor, Martha Graham and Alwin Nikolais will also jostle for room next to up-and-comers like Aszure Barton and Robert Moses. Rarely-sighted U.S. troupes (Pacific Northwest Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet) and intriguing foreign visitors (Britain’s Ballet Boyz and Random Dance, the Dutch National Ballet, French Hip-Hop troupe Compagnie Franck II Louise) will all show their bodies for a change. The profusion of performers is a reality during the Fall for Dance Festival. Even more amazing, it can all be seen for $10. For the third year, City Center pulsates with energy and variety as fan clubs and factions of the dance world rub
shoulders. Partisan discussions—or just general, season-launching merriment—continues after the show in the hip Festival Lounge in the adjoining
public atrium, which features a lineup of DJs, classy food and drink from neighborhood restaurants. So start stretch-
ing, because its time to dance with
the dancers …
