Music Listings

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22

Wolfmother, Dead Meadow, Silversun Pickups
Wolfmother is a bit like reliving the ’70s, without all of the disco and Nixon.
Hammerstein Ballroom, 311 W. 34th St. (at 8th Ave.), 212-307-7171; 6:30, $27.

New York Dolls, Supersuckers, Chesterfield Kings,The Charms
It’s tough to say which is more difficult to swallow, the fact that the New York Dolls will release its third album this year, or the fact that it’s not half bad. Can a new Buster Poindexter record really be that far off?
Irving Plaza, 17 Irving Pl. (at 15th St.), 212-777-6800; 8, $25.

Pere Ubu, Bush Tetras
The weirdest thing to come out of Cleveland, second only perhaps to the last few seasons of “The Drew Carey Show.”
Knitting Factory, 74 Leonard St. (betw. B’way & Church St.), 212-219-3132; 7:30, $15.

The Hold Steady, Constantines
The good news for lead singer Craig Finn is that, should this whole music thing not work out, there’s a lucrative career awaiting him as a drunken midnight Twin Cities tour guide.
Warsaw, 261 Driggs Ave. (at Eckford St.), B’klyn, 718-387-0505; 8, $17.

G. Love & Special Sauce
I hear it’s just ketchup and mayonnaise, mixed together.
Nokia Theatre Times Square, 1515 B’dway (at W. 44th St.), 212-930-1950; 7:30, $25.

Nation Beat Ensemble, Bryan Vargas And Ya Esta, Gabriel Moura
Get back to your pagan American roots (that’s Las Américas) just in time for some pavo eating with these world beats.
Joe’s Pub, 425 Lafayette St. (betw. Astor Pl. & E. 4th St.), 212-254-1263; 9:30, $15.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 23

Call Your family It’s Thanksgiving.
All ages Free (Phone Company Charges May Apply).

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 24

Peaches, Mr. Quintron and Miss Pussycat
What better way to burn off some of those Thanksgiving calories than with a little fatherfucking?
Irving Plaza, 17 Irving Pl. (at 15th St.), 212-777-6800; 8, $25.

The Sounds, Shiny Toy Guns
It’s a matter of opinion, I suppose, whether The Sounds are as good as The Sights or The Feelies, but I think we can all agree that band’s new-wave-influence indie rock blows The Smells out of the water.
Webster Hall, 125 E. 11th St. (betw. 3rd & 4th Aves.), 212- 353-1600; 6, $20.

Medeski, Scofield, Martin & Wood
Talk about being the odd man out.
Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey St. (betw. Bowery & Chrystie St.), 212-533-2111; 9, $35.

Genesis P-Orridge’s Thee Majesty
Just a heads up before you go to the show: Genesis is the middle-aged guy with prosthetic breasts, who can’t spell worth a damn.
Northsix, 66 N. 6th St. (betw. Kent & Wythe Ave.), Brooklyn, 718-599-5103; 7, $10.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 25

Agnostic Front
So the whole saving CBGB thing didn’t really work out. There’s always Williamsburg.
Northsix, 66 N. 6th St. (betw. Kent & Wythe Ave.), Brooklyn, 718-599-5103; 8, $15.

Hot Tuna
I realize that the bodegas in the area are a bit steep, and the guys behind the counter get pissy when they have to turn the grill back on, but still, $50 seems bit much for some hot tuna. They’d better have some great fucking pickles.
Beacon Theater, 2124 Broadway (at W. 74th St.), 212-496-7070; 7:30, $39.50-$49.50.

Mixel Pixel
Some wacky, happy beats from this Brooklyn-based electro-folk outfit.
Knitting Factory, 74 Leonard St. (betw. B’way & Church St.), 212-219-3132; 7:30, $8.

Kevin Blechdom, ChingChongSong, Lumberob
Blechdom’s material is a bit X-rated, and she deals with sex and obsession more honestly than most gals. Oh, and did we mention that she’s been known to perform topless holding the internal organs of a goat? Yeah, that too.
Tonic, 107 Norfolk St. (betw. Essex and Suffolk Sts.), 212-358-7501; 8, $10.

Sunday, November 26

Me First & the Gimme Gimmes
You know how older people are always complaining about how this generation doesn’t respect the music of their elders? Undeniable proof, thy name is Joey Cape.
B.B. Kings Blues Club & Grill, 237 W. 42 St. (betw. 7th & 8th Aves.), 212-997-4144; 7, $15.

Texas is the Reason, Ian Love
The 10-year anniversary of their debut is enough of a reason for these emo elders to play their first shows since ’97.
Irving Plaza, 17 Irving Pl. (at 15th St.), 212-777-6800; 8, $20. SOLD OUT.
Monday, November 27

Jimi Hendrix Birthday
I’m sure Jimi’ll show up? I mean what else is the guy going to be doing on a Monday night?
B.B. King’s Blues Club & Grill, 237 W. 42 St. (betw. 7th & 8th Aves.), 212-997-4144; 7, $80.

Will Dailey
This singer-songwriter is from Boston; boo him on principle.
Mercury Lounge, 217 E. Houston St.
(at Ave. A), 212-260-4700; 7:30, $10.
Tuesday, November 28

Redman, Raekwon, Keith Murray, DJ Kool
We’re not saying that we don’t support Redman’s touring; it’s just that every minute he spends on the road is time that he could be approving a script for How High 3.
B.B. Kings Blues Club & Grill, 237 W. 42 St. (betw. 7th & 8th Aves.), 212-997-4144; 8, $30/$35.

Cattle Decapitation
Forget about PETA’s hi-budget snuff films. If you’re looking for a new way to “cure” those unseemly meat-eating friends of yours, send ’em to this show and let San Diego’s toughest vegetarians scare the beef out of their system with a few songs from 2006’s Karma Bloody Karma—a tour-de-force of monster riffs and animal-rights advocacy.
Knitting Factory, 74 Leonard St. (betw. B’way & Church St.), 212-219-3132; 8, $15.
