GOOD FOR THE JEWS
By Kari Milchman
This is the time of year when many Jews, such as myself, get a bad case of Christmas Envy. What with trees that magically subsist indoors, songs about Daddy getting drunk and the whole jolly fat man thing, it’s hard to compete. After all, Adam Sandler can only do so much. But instead of kvetching, we laugh—that’s why God gave our collective people such a good sense of humor. And laugh you shall at Good For The Jews’ upcoming performances at the Knitting Factory. The band combines the music and comedy talents of Rob Tannenbaum, creator of What I Like About Jew, and David Fagin of The Rosenbergs, a local rock band that’s toured with No Doubt, The Strokes and—wait for it—Duran Duran! Their Hanukkah holiday tour includes special guest stars like singers Lisa Loeb (Jewish), Tammy Faye Starlite (not Jewish) and Julian Fleisher (guess) and comedians Todd Barry (Jewish) and Rachel Feinstein (yes). As you can see, Good For The Jews is for people of all faiths. So whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or Saturnalia, be sure to get your dose of humor before heading home for the holidays.
