BEAM ME UP, MIKEY

New York City has unveiled a new emergency command center near the Brooklyn Bridge. The facility has state-of-the-art technological gadgets worthy of a galactic TV spaceship, including a command desk and a video wall. The original center was destroyed on 9/11 when debris toppled the building that housed the it. According to reports, the new building comes stocked with several days’ worth of food and water—not to mention a foldout couch for Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Bloomberg spent two nights on an air mattress at an interim headquarters during last year’s transit strike but will now have a place to rest his head should another emergency require him to spend the night out.
