MONEY MILKING

In response to parents and students’ pleas to permit cell phones in schools, the Department of Education responded by suggesting cell phone lockers. Students wishing to bring their phones to school can do so, as long as they check them in to phone lockers that would cost 25 cents to 50 cents daily. In other school news, the DOE recently announced that the number of students drinking milk in schools dropped 10 percent from 2005 to 2006. Some blame the decrease on the fact that schools, looking to combat childhood obesity, got rid of whole and flavored milks—except for low-fat chocolate milk on certain days. Cell phone lockers and limited chocolate milk? School is so lame.
