HOTEL BARS MAN
By Doug Black
According to a recent lawsuit, city hotels should be acting more like bartenders than bouncers. Jeffery Dagan just won a lawsuit that dates back two years when he decided to ring in 2005 while staying at the Times Square Marriott. After a few too many stiff drinks and a passed-out guest in the hallway, Dagan was unceremoniously booted from the establishment. With nowhere to stay in the city, he started driving back home to his native Albany, but got no further than a tree on the side of the Taconic Parkway. With a shattered leg and chest injuries, he sued the hotel chain for negligence in kicking him out when he was so clearly inebriated. The judge agreed, and now Dagan is being awarded $750,000. This should serve as sage advice to other hotels: cleaning up a few puke stains costs much less than some drunk guy’s medical bills.
