Former Us Weekly gossip columnist Timothy McDarrah, 44, who was arrested in New York last year on charges related to soliciting sex with a minor, has now been found guilty. He was convicted by a Manhattan federal jury for answering a posting in the “erotic services” section on Craigslist.org in June 2005, which was placed there by federal agents. The ad offered the chance to meet the “freshest, youngest” girls in New York. Apparently, McDarrah used graphic language to describe exactly the kind of sexual activity in which he was interested, and he agreed to pay the “13-year-old girl” (really an undercover FBI agent) $200 for pleasing him. Not only is he a perv, but he’s cheap, too. McDarrah ultimately requested the girl’s address, but when he arrived at the Manhattan locale that he believed to be her home, undercover federal agents arrested him. Court documents reveal that McDarrah faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison, possibly up to 30. After his arrest, he was suspended without pay from his post as the editor of Us Weekly’s “Hot Stuff” column. Too many puns … can’t process … mind exploding.
