CRIME BLOTTER

Holiday Holdup

By Doug Black

Shoppers should be on high alert considering some recent incidents in the city’s densest commercial centers. An agitated vagrant upset the bustling crowds around Times Square when he stabbed a nearby building’s security guard. After the unprovoked attack, the crazed man escaped into a sea of people, forcing police to close down an entire block in their search. The man eventually evaded the police, but the real tragedy took place at the cash registers. The guard will heal, but all those hours of prime shopping time will never be replenished.

Also, a Long Island pervert was caught at a local shopping mall while trying to take explicit photographs of patrons. Mauricio Rodriguez, 28, was spending his afternoon taking pictures up the skirt of a 14-year-old girl outside of a Payless shoe store. While the teen was oblivious to the act, her aunt spotted the man and quickly snatched his cellular phone, which contained the incriminating shots. She then screamed for proper authorities who quickly apprehended the man, allowing women to once again shop in skirts without fear.
