BABY PHAT
By Lisa LaMotta
The Central Park Zoo is playing the part of the proud papa as it flaunts its latest addition, a three-week-old Colobus monkey of unknown gender. Zoo officials have yet to check under the hood because Tana, the baby’s mama and long-time NYC resident, has kept the babe as close as a flea on a monkey. As adults, this native African species is almost all black with a long white stripe and tail. But baby is yet to don its black coat, opting instead, to sport the white look until the end of summer. This fashion savvy primate already knows that you can’t wear white after Labor Day.
