SMALL DOGS, BIG SQUABBLE
By Doug Black
Size really does matter to a number of UES dog owners. The city’s plan to convert the E. 63rd Street heliport into a 5,000-square-foot dog run has pitted the masters of small dogs against those of larger breeds. The owners of small “teacup” dogs deride the current proposal for lacking a separate section designated for their pint-sized pups; they claim it’s a safety hazard to mix their diminutive canines with the general population of heftier dogs. Safety notwithstanding, maybe these owners just have a bit of a Napoleon complex on account of their dogs’ below-average dimensions.
