TOTALLY NAUGHTY TRANSPORTATION

By Lisa LaMotta

If you are riding the Staten Island Ferry, you have never been safer. The TSA has partnered up with the Department of Transportation to bring SI commuters the latest in advanced explosives technology detection. As of April 3, passengers boarding at the St. George terminal will spend three weeks during this trial test-period being delayed and annoyed as they get screened for explosives before their morning coffee.

Transportation Security Officers will perform an “abbreviated” pat down of anyone who seems to be an “anomaly,” says the DoT. While most New Yorkers require dinner and a movie before receiving this kind of treatment, the TSA thinks that the 65,000 Staten Islanders who pass through the terminal everyday will be happy that they are doing everything they can to keep the ferry safe.
