CRIME BLOTTER

Occupational Hazards

By Doug Black

In some situations, it’s wise to yield to a professional’s expertise. Other times, a healthy skepticism is helpful. An 8-year-old girl from Queens fell into the latter category when her mother entrusted her to a hairstylist in Sunnyside. Cemal Seferoglu, 46, washed and cut the girl’s hair, and then allegedly proceeded to molest her, so enamored by his work was he. Later, the girl’s mother caught wind of the perverted styling session and alerted the authorities, who arrested Seferoglu on sexual abuse and child endangerment charges.

On the other hand, a drunken Coney Island man would have been better served by trusting the pair of medics tending him. After an anonymous call dispatched an ambulance to find Yuriy Talovikov, 56, positively sloshed on the street, two paramedics loaded him into the vehicle and drove to Coney Island Hospital. But Talovikov refused to exit the car upon their request. Instead, he responded by throwing punches, breaking the nose of one medic before he was effectively subdued. One can only imagine Talovikov’s reaction to his forthcoming ambulance bill.
