Rage Against the Sandwich Man

When you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Either that, or harass the person who messed it up. Michael Slow, a 17-year-old Bensonhurst man, opted for the latter when a sandwich he ordered wasn’t exactly up to par. It seems his ideal ’wich included fixings that the shop didn’t carry, so Slow went into a rage, berating the worker, spitting on him and throwing some unsuccessful punches. A responding officer ordered Slow to leave, and he momentarily complied before returning with renewed fury. Another 911 call resulted in another abbreviated departure, but on his third visit, the sub sandwich aficionado was finally arrested.

In a Flatbush bar, a drunken customer had a similar reaction when the bartender improperly mixed his drink—Gonzalo Vargas flipped his lid on the barkeep, launching into a verbal assault. When the manager asked Vargas to leave, he allegedly spit on his face and tore his jacket. He later attacked responding officers, who charged him with assault and resisting arrest. It’s safe to assume that Vargas is also guilty of being a less-than-generous tipper.
