While an entire night of air guitar sounds totally ridiculous, there's a reason why these events have grown so much in popularity in recent years, even inspiring a documentary. That reason is because it is so ridiculous. The stage names, the outfits, the Van Halen-esque finger-tapping solosevery aspect of an Air Guitar event is over-the-top and incredibly entertaining.
New Yorkers will have their chance to see some of these masters of air on Wednesday night when the [Music Hall of Williamsburg] hosts the US Air Guitar Championships: Brooklyn Regionals.Tickets are still available.
Regional winners will go to compete in the US finals August 8th in San Francisco. The US air guitar champion will receive a free trip to the World Championships in Oulu, Finland. Yeah, it's that big.
