New York has a reputation of being big, tough and abrasive. Therefore we hold our Sevens tourney (big) in the winter (tough) on Randalls Island (abrasive). Do not despair as it is also our desire that you see the more hospitable side of our great city; a sample of which will be seen at Connolly's Pub and Restaurant following the tournament.
Of course, none of these efforts can come to fruition without the support and involvement of various partners.ÊWeÊwould like to take this opportunity to thankÊour sponsors and supporters including the Brooklyn Brewery, New York Press andÊRugby Imports, as well as MediaZone, MetroMint, Royall Lyme, USA Sevens, USA Rugby, Rugby Magazine, Ship of Fools andÊConnolly's Pub.
We also would like to specifically thank the medical staff that handles the not inconsiderable task of tending to the many bumps and scrapes that are inevitable when 1,000 players play over 170 matches in a single day. So thank you to Dr. Lisa Bartoli for all of your work throughout the year for the Club including leading the medical effort at the New York Sevens, and thank you to Corona Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Professional PTÊphysical therapy, and Dr. Gotlin and fellows, who work along with Dr. Robert Bartoli atÊBeth Israel Hospital for helping to keep the NY Sevens a safe and fun event for all.
And finally, a big thanks to the referees of the New York Rugby Referee Society as well as home club refs and guest referees from far and wide. Like it or not, everyone knows the games cannot go on without you, and your effort and commitment to a jam-packed day of rugby is appreciated by all of us at the New York Rugby Club.
So on behalf of the NY Sevens'Êorganizers, volunteersÊand the whole New York Rugby Club, we hope you all have fun at a uniquely "New York" experience, because that's what thisÊweekendÊand this game is all about.
Thank youÊfor coming to the New York Sevens.
