Monogamy on My Mind

. . . . . . .

Dixon Place seems like the perfect setting for storyteller James Braly to recount “20 years of monogamy in one terrifying evening.” Snuggle into the cozy couches and get ready for the NPR personality to unravel his tales from Life in a Marital Institution. Exploring the themes of temptation, reproduction and borderline madness, Braly uses his familiar wit, comedic gestures and conversational tone to reflect the many intricacies and revelations of married life: from his 13th marriage counselor to his son adoring the color pink. Braly exposes his private life but maintains, “My initial job is to entertain. My great heroes are the Beatles and Shakespeare. When you look at both of their works, it’s fun. And having them entertain you, you reach into deeper places.”

Sept. 20-21. Dixon Place, 258 Bowery (betw. Houston & Prince Sts.), Second Floor, 212-219-0736; 8, $10/$15.
