Once a month in New York City, a frat boy’s wet dream becomes a reality: women volunteer to wrestle each other in plastic pools of Jell-O. Dana Sterling and Chris Peters began holding Amateur Female Jell-O Wrestling events three years ago in an effort to encourage women to try something new—and to have fun doing it. Women who decide to throw down should show up at the venue at 6:30 p.m. for a free “Wrestle Lesson,” where experienced wrestlers teach newbie-fighters about the laws of safety in the ring and, most importantly, how to correctly perform moves like hair pulls and hip tosses. The Jell-O the competitors roll around in isn’t actually Jell-O; it’s a color-free, sugarless concoction called “Super Absorbent Crystals,” which leaves the wrestlers wet (easy, bro) but not sticky. And since the show is all for the ladies, wrestlers get in free, women who don’t wrestle pay only $3 and guys who come with girls pay $7, while single guys pay $15. So, gentlemen, unless you want to tuck it up, I suggest bringing a lady.
