The People's Art

An art show for incarcerated students at Horizon Academy

By Joshua David Stein

April 22, CUNY Law School Garden, 65-21 Main St. (betw. Cherry & Dahlia Aves.), Queens; 6-9, FREE

Though the Rockefeller drug laws are on their way to obsolescence, Riker’s Island is still filled with good kids who made bad choices (also with bad kids who made bad choices). This art show, a one-night affair, showcases the work of incarcerated students at Horizon Academy, an alternative for jailed young men.

Bottom Line: Don’t expect Michelangelo; but do remember, Caravaggio spent time in jail. A good cause, especially if you stop first for great Korean food nearby.
