Shame Lips

Billed as “The Best Tap Dancing, Middle-Aged, Jewish, Gay Performance Artist in America”—Kehinde Wiley must be PISSED!— Toni Silver brings her one-woman show to the fifth floor of a Midtown theater. But it’s not as ridiculous as it sounds. Or it is, but it is also touching. In Shame Lips, Silver recounts some of her Toni Silver more painful memories (what’s up, mental institution?) albeit with the lightness and wit that you’d expect from the best tap dancing, middle-aged, Jewish, gay performance artist in America.
Bottom Line: Overcome your initial urge to laugh at Ms. Silver and laugh with her.
