The Translation Slam

May 1, Bowery Poetry Club, 308 Bowery (betw. E. 1st & Bleecker Sts.); 9, $10

I dosed out on slams after freshman year of college, but this one, part of the PEN World Voices festival, is different. Using the work of Irishman Nick Laird and Catalan poet Narcis

Comadira, two of the Festival guests, as starting points, a bunch of translators go head-to-cabeza to turn the latter’s words into Spanish and the formers into English.

Bottom Line: A slam without the emotion? Count me in!
