Pampered Skin

Le Cachet’s Laszlo Friedman preaches a holistic approach to skin care

By Nicole Brydson
. . . . . . .

She's having an orgasm,” joked Laszlo Friedman, Le Cachet Day Spa’s owner, in a hushed tone after a loud yelp emanated from the client in the next room. In fact, it was the exact opposite sensation: A layer of organic wax had just ripped hair from her nether regions.

The client—a young woman in her twenties—had opted for a Brazilian rather than laser removal, which is offered for the entire spectrum of skin pigments. “It’s biracial,” Friedman added. “Like our White House!” Located on East 30th Street between Madison and Park avenues, Le Cachet Spa is a holistic skin-care center, hair and nail salon and massage parlor rolled into one.

Lazslo, 66, is a skin-care salesman, pitching every customer who walks in on his natural products and their therapeutic benefits, even coaching his female clientele to bring in their boyfriends— especially for the discounted couples massage.

Best known for its holistic approach to skin care, Le Cachet offers packages for the acne prone, with the promise that, if they keep up with their regimen of treatment, they will be free of acne-related inflammation within eight weeks without use of antibiotics.

Throw away that Proactiv, too! A treatment package is prepared according to skin type and sensitivity and includes an enzyme peel, acne facial, blue light and laser treatments. Laser treatments are unique to this spa in New York City and similar to those found by referral at a dermatologist’s office.

“When we create a package, we do all four treatments once a week for eight weeks,” said Laszlo, who has been in business for 10 years. The aestheticians, he added, have no conflict of interest: Even if your skincare needs change through the weekly treatments, the cost remains the same from the start.

Le Cachet also boasts an advanced FDA-approved cosmetic laser treatment to aid skin in producing more collagen because, Laszlo says, “Why replace the hard drive when it just needs to be cleaned up? We’re not injecting you—that only lasts two to three months anyway—instead we allow your body to become the donor,” he explained.

Like other skin-care centers, Le Cachet offers microdermabrasion facial treatments to remove dead skin cells, but rather than using aluminum oxide crystals in its procedure— which can leave behind toxic residue—as most salons do, Le Cachet uses magnesium oxide crystals, which leave behind no toxins and act as a vitamin for the skin. If you didn’t think it could get any better, LeCachet also offers the only rejuvenating thermal cocoon in America, an automated machine that envelopes the body and automatically senses temperature and aids in reducing stress and getting the blood flowing through the lymphatic system.

A variety of massage packages are also offered at Le Cachet; they only use organic oils that soak into the skin and do not leave behind a greasy residue.

“We’re humans, we like to be touched,” said Laszlo. “Here, we pamper you, but we pamper you therapeutically.”

Le Cachet Day Spa is located at 39 E. 30th Street (betw. Park & Madison Aves.), 212- 448-4823

My girlfriend asked me to go with her to negotiate a business deal…when we got to the place it was Le Cachet Day Spa, and the business deal was a wonderful relaxing couples massage with aroma candles. The atmosphere, romantic music, and the massage was superb. After the massage, we had a glass of fine wine and chocolate. The staff of Le Cachet was professional, pleasant and courteous; I am looking forward to have an other surprise couple’s massage at Le Cachet Day Spa. Highly recommended
