Futurity: A Musical by The Lisps

May 16, Joe’s Pub, 425 Lafayette St. (betw. Astor Pl. & E. 4th St.), 212-539-8777; 9:30, $15

The Lisps, a pop band, went ahead and channeled The Who by making a musical. Futurity is about as strange as Tommy and also, happily, as catchy. It tells the story of a Civil War soldier who is also an amateur science fiction writer.Tonight, joining The Lisps, is indie rock’s most attractive musician, Kyle Forester.

Bottom Line: It’s musical theater for those who despise histrionics but love a good show tune.
