Pray the Devil Back to Hell

May 24, Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway (betw. W. 95th & W. 96th Sts.); 3:30 and 7:45, $11

The exploitation of Africa’s child soldiers is a well-documented and moving tragedy. Lesser known, but no less moving, is the plight of their mothers. In this documentary, winner of the Tribeca Film Festival doc category, Liberian women band together to protest the killing of and by their sons. Their power helped Liberia end the war and elect its first female head-of-state, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

Bottom Line:
Sobering, masterful and ultimately uplifting.
