Pressed for Time: Chris Garneau

By Joshua David Stein

Chris Garneau

May 21, Bargemusic, Fulton Ferry Landing, Old Fulton Street and the East River, Brooklyn; 8, $20

Young pianist Chris Garneau pops Bargemusic’s pop cherry in this, the first ever non-classical, non-jazz performance on her deck. The good-looking naïf is slightly Sufjanian but happily less precious.Tonight two cellists flank him—no telling if he’ll wake up the same way. Here’s hoping!

Bottom Line: City skyline, the gentle roll of the East River, melancholy melodies and good ice cream mere feet away.
