back in high school when your two musical loves were Barenaked Ladies
and They Might Be Giants? Me neither! Because, like, I was into much
cooler stuff. So BNL happily disappeared but TMBG prevails and
still—nostalgia/shame notwithstanding—makes good music. See the
Brooklyn duo at arty party house (le) poisson rouge for a little “James
K. Polk,” a smidgen of “Ana Ng” and even a little “Birdhouse.”
Bottom Line: Dorky but radiantly fun accordion pop.
