Investing in and collecting art is more than just buying your friends’ paintings at discount prices while they’re still struggling to succeed (though that’s part of it!) There’s strategy involved, and these days, investment in something you can hold in front of you, seems like a sound policy.

Tonight Andras Szanto of Sotheby’s, Joe Amrhein from the Pierogi gallery in Williamsburg and others advise would be Eli Broads on how to start their budding collections.

Bottom Line: Let go of your class consciousness: use that money you were going to blow on booze and buy a painting.
