Pressed for Time: Bushwick Biennial

By Joshua David Stein

Bushwick Biennial

June 6, various locations, www.bushwickbiennial.com; 6-10, FREE

This first-ever biennial celebrates Bushwick pre-gentrification but also pre-industrialization, back when the neighborhood was a crafty village of artisans. The show encompasses three galleries—NurtureArts, English Kills and Pocket Utopia—mixed media and many more artists.Tonight, plan on gallery party hopping with an optional, though highly recommended, stop at Roberta’s for refueling.

Bottom Line: Before there were overly precious Park Slope artisans, there were working-class Bushwick artists. Now, the L brings you to them.
