Molly Davies’ Traditions, Inventions, Exchange

June 6, Baryshnikov Arts Center, 450 W. 37th St. (betw. Dyer & 10th Aves.); 3:30, $20 Filmmaker Molly Davies’ ambitious new project is like Koyaanisqatsi for dance. In it, Davies’ prances the world over, finding common ground and fruitful difference through the bodies of various dancers.Tonight, some of those dancers, including Polly Motley, Steve Paxton, Sardono W. Kusumo and Kota Yamazaki, give a live performance. This isn’t Smithsonian Folkways, though; each dancer represents not only the traditions of their nation but the innovative and new as well.

Bottom Line: If you are a real diehard, don’t miss the roundtable discussion with Davies, beginning at 2 p.m.
