Pressed for Time: A Hard Day's Night

By Joshua David Stein

A Hard Day’s Night

June 17, Museum of Modern Art, 11 W. 53rd St. (betw. 5th & 6th Aves.), 212-708-9400; 4:30, $TBD.

MoMA’s “Yanks in Britain” film festival somewhat incongruously opens with four Brits in Britain in Richard Lester’s 1964 mockumentary A Hard Day’s Night. We’re not complaining. Shot at the height of their popularity, the guys in The Beatles are playful and young and cute as fuck. This was before John got all into peace and Paul became a redheaded prune.

Bottom Line: Madcap, musical, stop-action Beatlemania.

What a jerk Joshua Davis Stein is! AHDN is a brilliant film and completely captures the feel of Beatlemania and the esence of The Beatles charm, both collectively and indivually. Paul McCartney is 67, trim, fit, sharp and still performing near the top of his game. Let's see how you look when you are 67. Nothing resembling a prune about him - it is called ageing and he looks spectacular for his age. You're an ass!
