July 8 through 19; for a complete schedule visit www.olmcfeast.com The
old Italians of Williamsburg are a friendly bunch—mostly they smile and
tell me I walk erectly, which is nice. For the next two weeks they
celebrate Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the poet Saint Paulinus of Nola.
It’s an annual thing, full of carnival rides, food stands and happy
looking grandmas, and you’re not going to be able to sleep through it,
so you might as well join in.
Bottom Line: Come for the sausage and pepper heroes, stay for the lifting of the 80-foot-tall, 4-and-a-half-ton Giglio on July 12, 15 and 19.
