A Black Panther Party Film Series

July 25, The New Museum Theater, 235 Bowery (at Prince St.), 212-219-1222; 3, $8

In a partnership with uptown art house Maysles Cinema, the New Museum will be showing a smattering of films about the Black Panther Party, including Agnes Varda’s Huey!, which focuses on—duh!— Huey Newton, Merritt College: Home of the Black Panthers as well as a film of one of Emory Douglas’ 2005 lectures.

The Bottom Line: The film screenings coincide with the Museum’s exhibit of the work of Douglas, the Black Panther Party’s former Minister of Culture. A bit more authentic that the BP ashtray from Urban Outfitters.
