The Death Ray
Sept. 8, Light Industry, 220 36th St. (betw. 2nd & 3rd Aves.), Brooklyn; 7:30, $7
A
rarely seen, feature-length work by early Russian cinematic wizard Lev
Kuleshov, The Death Ray is a Russian take on the American sci-fi spy
genre, one very much alive even in 1924. Eminent film theoretician
Keith Sanborn presents the kinda crappy print—downloaded. Also please
note:The film is missing its climactic reel. Ha!
Bottom Line: Halfway between a lecture and a movie, it still beats the shit out of All About Steve.
