Lucha Vavoom Mexican Wrestling
Sept. 20, Webster Hall, 125 E. 11th St. (betw. 3rd & 4th Aves.), 212-353-1600; 8, $25
Lucha Vavoom calls itself the home of sexo y violencia, which sounds pretty good. The violence part is Mexican wrestling, and Lucha Vavoom!
the sex part is burlesque—though a theoretical argument could be made
for the inversion of those descriptors. Regardless, tonight’s wildly
entertaining card features the Crazy Chickens who have, by far, the
catchiest theme song in the history of wrestling.
Bottom Line: Silly and sweaty and sequined, it doesn’t matter which part is sex and which part is violence, they’re both fun.
