Maybe you’ve never heard of filmmakers Atom Egoyan and James Toback, but it’s time you did. Egyptian-born director Egoyan is best known for The Sweet Hereafter, his 1997 Oscar-nominated film starring Ian Holm, while New Yorker Toback received an Oscar nom for his screenplay for Bugsy in 1991. Skipping ahead from their claims to fame in the '90s, these two directors have reaped success in our current millennium as well, and will present their respective films in person next month through the Museum of Moving Image.
April 6, Toback will present his documentary, Tyson, on the famous former heavyweight champ, which premiered at Cannes last year. Egoyan will show his mystery drama, Adoration, April 27. Tickets are $12 for members of MOMI and $18 for the general public.
