This Saturday at the Great Hall in Cooper Union graphic novelists of international acclaim will be taking the stage to discuss visual storytelling for the PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature.
Starting at 1 p.m. the much-lauded Neil Gaiman, prolific author the immensely popular Sandman series, will be on hand to discuss the series as well as his recently adapted Coraline musical (with music by Stephen Merritt).
At 2:30 p.m., it's a panel discussion between Emmanuel Guibert, David Polonsky and Shaun Tan, moderated
by Jonathan Ames. They'll be discussing their personal accounts of the Israel-Lebanon war, the war in Afghanistan, alcoholism and immigration.
At 4:30 p.m., manga giant Yoshihiro Tatsumi will be discussing his brand new memoir as manga, A Drifting Life. Joining the conversation will be Adrian Tomine, author of Shortcomings and an esteemed graphic novelist who has had his work featured on a recent New Yorker cover.
