IUD headlined Santos Party House Saturday night with support from doom rockers Bloody Panda and post punker Jarboe. As a result, Lizzie and Sadie played to a much more leather-and-metal clad crowd than usual, with the puzzling exception of a very blonde, smiley-face-skirt wearing Chloe Sevingy and a man who may or may not have been Dash Snow. "It’s so quiet, it makes me nervous" said Lizzie before launching into a short set of double drummer mayhem. Said crowd stood there with arms crossed as the girls on stage freaked out, using shrieks, grunts, red strobes and sick, relentless drumming to create something simultaneously appealing and alien. The crowd seemed to approve, nodding its many heads. "That's it?" someone asked after the onslaught stopped abruptly barely 15 minutes in. Unfortunately, it was. I bolted home to blast the band’s record.
