Red Hot Chili Peppers Are Back

In Section: PRESS Play » Posted By: Nicole Kagan
- The Red Hot Chili Peppers are back, willingly, and after a two-year break they plan on making a new album. Although they have no specific plans for recording, they will follow their usual routine of jamming and songwriting.

Drummer Chad Smith told Billboard, "It'll be two years in September, so now we're ready. You can't force people to play when they don't want to play or aren't ready to play or whatever—not in our band, anyway."

Their last studio album—Stadium Arcadium—came out in 2006 and was followed by a world tour. Now, Smith promises more “improvising and jamming” from The Red Hot Chili Peppers which will lead to something fresh. [via Billboard and NME]

The generation of American bands, most prominently, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has had its musical outlook transformed by the Gang's innovatory blending of muscular funk bass and drums, jagged guitar riffs and politicized lyrics. So much for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chad Smith, if anyone recalls, is the drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and he looks like Ferrell – so much so that he could work as a stunt double. Although, at this point, since the Chili Peppers have become so huge, he probably doesn't need a lot of cash to repair bad credit. Smith evidently has t-shirts that say "I'm Not Will Ferrell" that he wears in public, and supposedly has even been asked for autographs by fans believing him to be the über-famous SNL alumnus. Since Ferrell has become so famous, Chad Smith would likely give easy cash loans to get people to stop confusing them.
