A flight instructor and his student must really love the sweet deals at JC Penney, because they decided to crash their plane into one of the retail store’s parking lots. Gothamist reports that a single-engine plane that left from Essex County Airport crashed within 100 yards of a JC Penney in the Rockaway Townsquare Mall. Both people in the plane walked away from the crash relatively unharmed. Apparently there were problems with the plane’s engine, but then again the store does boast “The Lowest Prices for Back to School” so obviously there was some incentive.
Even more surprising, this is not the first time a plane has landed in this store’s parking lot. In 1996 another plane made a last minute decision to check out the low prices. In very recent history, though, this is the third plane crash with connections to Jersey in the last month. Hey Jersey, what the hell is going on?
