New York Press has confirmed that Suzanne Fiol, the executive director of Issue Project Room, a cutting edge arts space in Gowanus, passed away this morning. IPR has yet to release a statement, but it's said that Fiol, who founded the space in 2003 and was a huge presence in the Brooklyn arts scene, had been battling with cancer.
