This year's (Saturday!) Halloween bashes ask you don costumes ranging from 1994 cliches to macabre Victorian garb. They'll have you dance to The Very Best and The Monster Mash. Start sewing—it's only a day away! Flavorpill’s “Gods and Heroes” bash is sure to be a thriller. The party’s secret location has been revealed as the super-spooky The Brooklyn Masonic Temple and the entertainment will include The Very Best plus a slew of DJs. The Brooklyn Masonic Temple, 317 Clermont Ave. (betw. DeKalb & Lafayette Aves.), Brooklyn, flavorpill.com/halloween; 9, $35.
Folks at The Richardson are always in some sort of costume, be it old-timey bartender or hipster space wench, but on Halloween expect to see plenty of greaser zombies lurching and creeping for the bar’s 1950s-themed bash. The Richardson, 451 Graham Ave. (at Richardson St.), Brooklyn, 718-389-0839; all night, Free.
Going as Patrick Bateman again? Set the scene by dropping into Thom Bar, where the normally exorbitant drinks are an only slightly offensive $8 and prey will be ample. The Thompson Hotel, 60 Thompson St. (betw. Spring & Broome Sts.), 212-219-3200; 7, Free.
We can’t wait to see some of the 1994-themed costume’s at Vice’s Williamsburg party from Nancy Kerrigan and Tanya Harding to Kurt Cobain, Nicole Brown Simpson, Bill Clinton and others. The party will have free booze, a mini skate ramp and performances from The Jesus Lizard and whatever group is going by the name Bad Brains these days. The location is still secret, but visit viceland.com/15yearny for information.
Choose your afterlife at The Hotel on Rivington’s Heaven & Hell party, where The Penthouse is Heaven and the Lobby is Hell. Purgatory (the hotel rooms) are off limits unless you manage to seduce a hotel guest. The Hotel on Rivington, 107 Rivington St. (betw. Orchard & Essex Sts.), 212-475-2600; 9, Free.
It’s supposed to be hellishly warm, so try staying outdoors at 230 FIFTH, the city’s largest rooftop bar and restaurant. Hot cocktails will be served and the normally summery rooftop will be festooned with pumpkins and hay, making it that much easier to take a roll in it. 230 5th Ave. (betw. E. 26th & E. 27th Sts.), 212-725-4300; 9, Free, Costumes required.
Finally, Gemini & Scorpio will host a loft party described as “an explosion of live music, dancing, circus arts, fire and late-night revelry, snake-charmed into an absinthe-fueled early-morning speakeasy.” Wear masquerade macabre or dark Victoriana to witness the vintage-inspired spectacles. As these things go, all of the information is still hush-hush, but check it out here: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/87127.
