Michael Feinstein and Dame Edna Everage have been conducting
a good-natured feud via their publicists over the last few days, ever since the
announcement that Dame Edna will be returning to Broadway this March in a
one-woman show titled Dame Edna: It’s All About Me. Unfortunately, pianist and singer Michael
Feinstein is also returning to Broadway with a one-person show in March, titled
All About Me.
In a press release sent out yesterday announcing the opening
date of Dame Edna’s show, she took the time to say, “It’s All About Me is my title. While I was saddened to hear that Mr.
Feinstein did not heed my sage advice to change the title of his show, I’m
overjoyed to hear that he at least took my suggestion to open his show after
mine. I’m sure Mrs. Feinstein is very proud of her son.”
The next day, Feinstein shot back (via his PR company) with, “Titles are not copyrightable. I wish Ms. Edna well. I’ve heard of her.”
And the dizzying round of emails clogging
in boxes around the city continued a few hours later with another entry from Dame Edna, saying, “Someone purchased a CD of Mr.

But really, isn’t the most interesting thing about this whole feud the fact that anyone thinks that both Dame Edna and Michael Feinstein can still fill a Broadway house?
