If you had to sum up Playgirl’s plan for Levi Johnston’s pending photo shoot in one word, it would be cheap. Two words? Cheap and classy—or at least that’s what the magazine editors would have you believe. But the cost of class was just too high for the legendary skin mag—plans to shoot Bristol Palin’s baby daddy at the Hotel on Rivington penthouse this Friday were dashed when, as The Post reported, the magazine couldn’t cough up the cash for the space. Fortunately for Johnston, a bevy of New York’s sexiest minds were glad to offer advice on extending his 15 minutes of fame.
And the best advice for doing it on a dime comes from porn stars according to alternative sex star and porn director Joanna Angel.
“We don’t have huge budgets but we want our shit to look good,” Angel said. “I actually think people in the porn industry are very smart about making things look great on camera for way cheaper than people in the mainstream. I’ve been on mainstream sets before and I think that people in porn could really teach the mainstream world a few things about that stuff.”
Her advice for Playgirl and Levi: Head to Brooklyn.
“They should do the shoot in Brooklyn because things in Brooklyn are a little cheaper than things in Manhattan and there’s a lot of cool looking places,” she explained. “There’s this place that me and my friend went to the other day. It’s a restaurant and bar called Northeast Kingdom. It’s kind of classy looking but not too classy. It’s kind of lodge-ish; I think it would be perfect. And they have really good food and really good wine so after the shoot he could sit down and eat a nice meal. Everyone wants to eat a nice meal after doing a shoot when they’re naked.”
BUTT magazine editor Adam Baran thought the Alaskan native might feel more comfortable out of doors.
“Maybe he should go try and do a shoot in the Rambles where all the gay guys cruise, and if he doesn’t want to do that because he’s afraid of being arrested then he can certainly welcome to come by the BUTT offices and use our locale for his Playgirl shoot,” Baran said.
But Baran’s best advice is to skip the class all together.
“I don’t really understand the elegance thing to begin with,” he said. “Elegant means what? Does he have a scarf around him? I would say he should wear an ascot and a dickie. Why is this being done in New York and not Alaska? What we would do is we would go to Alaska, get him out in the cold, in the snow and have him hunting the moose naked. That’s kind of what you want to see.”
Baran’s call of nature was echoed by East Village Boys co-founder Richard Welch.
“It would makes more sense if they shot him with a gun between his legs on a snowmobile,” he explained.
And though one might not think the cold of the Alaskan tundra wouldn’t be conducive for a naked shoot, Baran begs to differ.
“That’s not really true,” he said. “The legendary porn star Al Parker did a wonderful scene is his film Inches where the two guys make love in the snow. I’m not sure whether Levi is as well endowed as Parker, but it certainly can be made to work.”
