When the Tribeca Film Festival opens April 21, the marketed-as-edgy Downtown annual will do its best to please its yoga mom neighbors by screening Shrek Forever After as its opening night offering.

In a statement, TFF co-founder Jane Rosenthal said, “We have always sought to open our Festival with films that are captivating and strike an emotional chord with movie-goers.  Shrek Forever After combines the very best in storytelling and artistry while showcasing the wonders of innovative 3D filmmaking.  It is one of the most anticipated new movies of 2010 and we are so pleased that DreamWorks Animation is bringing the final chapter of Shrek to the Tribeca Film Festival for its world premiere."
