Staff -
City Hall newsaper is reporting that, despite midterm elections this week that saw a wave of Republican victories around the state and a series of setbacks for gay marriage around the country, supporters of same-sex marriage say they are closer than ever to achieving passage. According to City Hall’s most recent count, 21 Democratic Senators have expressed that they are in favor of passage, however several of those have said they would prefer it if a bill did not come to the floor right now. Free Man Show at Chelsea Blue

Jordan Galloway -

Nothing’s shocking in New York anymore, but a live male erotic massage demonstration is the kind of window display bound to catch someone’s attention. Or at least that’s what the visionaries behind Manworks.com hope will happen tonight when they take over the window space at The Blue Chelsea, transform it into a masseuse station and display their erotic massage techniques on willing volunteers.

Beat the Mob: a Scavenger Hunt, a Leprechaun and Prizes

Mike Spence -

Looking for a free game to play here in New York that requires almost no commitment while at the same time offers fabulous prizes? Your prayers have been answered by a man dressed as a leprechaun. Once a week Bob Freedman, the man behind the game “Beat the Mob” will find a hiding spot and Tweet clues about his whereabouts, waiting for the first person to come find him and win a prize. It’s too soon to say that this new game is sweeping the city, but it is certainly creating a dedicated fan base. I spoke to Mr. Freedman, half of the duo who came up with the game only a few months ago.

Art The Rocks at PerkStreet Lounge

Jordan Galloway -

When Jackie Roman was asked to contribute artwork to the Art That Rocks exhibition being held by 303 Grand this Friday, the rock photographer knew she had the perfect image: a photo she snapped last spring of Ex Humans guitarist Josh Martin, cigarette in hand, licking his guitar case while running down Grand Street late to a gig at Trash.

Closet Case

Jordan Galloway -

Bags of donated clothing started filling MK Guth’s apartment soon after the artist announced she needed clothing cast offs. As the opening date approached for her new exhibition, “This Fable is Intended for You: A Work-Energy Principle,” she realized she’d have to take her search for clothing handouts public. So Guth is now inviting New Yorkers to clean out their closets and provide her material for the conceptual work. Read the full story here.

Editors -

In the paper today, Kurt Gottschalk uncovers what's happening at this year's Performa. To kick things off, the performance art biennial had a party at MoMA on Sunday night where Fischerspooner, clad in wacky silver outfits and sneakers—and kneepads!—from sponsor Asics, played its hits, including  Electroclash anthem "Emerge," to a crowd gearing up for a few weeks of off the wall performance spectacle. Check out the performance after the jump.
