WTF DVF?!

Jordan Galloway -

In the confusion and shock of having her wallet, cash, credit cards- and probably a wrap dress or two- ganked on the streets of Madrid this weekend,  Diane von Furstenberg kept her composure and used her phone to inform....her Twitter followers?

What, No Pedal Pushers?

Mike Spence -
Riding a bike around New York City can be fun, healthy and good for the environment. It's also one of those things, like shopping at the farmer's market or never leaving Brooklyn, that people get all huffy and righteous about to the point where we want to deck them. Well now at least they'll be well dressed!  Hudson Urban Bicycles is having a fashion show that revolves around “fashion-forward clothing designed with the bicyclist in mind.”

A Novel Idea

Jordan Galloway -

Shirts emblazoned with names are normally either touting a sports figure or some odious designer, and neither one has ever done much for us. Apparently, David Bukszspan felt the same way. This Sunday he’ll be launching Novel-T, his new line of T-shirts that look like they’re touting sports stars but really celebrate the heavyweights of literature. Who needs A-Rod when you can have Ahab? Jordan Galloway chats with Bukszpan and his partner Michael Kravetsky about his idea, his favorite writers and possible Yankees-Red Sox style beefs.

Limelight Church Space Finds Retail Rebirth

Jordan Galloway -

From house of worship to den of iniquity, the Chelsea church that once housed infamous party spots, Club Avalon and Limelight, has undergone its fair share of conversions, but, if the newest plan for the space goes through, the only worshipping people will be doing there from now on is to the fashion gods.

Men Of New York Decide to Show a Little Leg

Jordan Galloway -

After stifling to death in jeans, slacks and cargo shorts for many a summer past, the men of New York City are taking a stand, and we at the New York Press are proud to stand behind them, beside them or anywhere near them with a good view. Before the chill of fall puts this trend out of commission, we say: "Come on men. Show off your man gams!"

The Mane Event

Editors -

Over at the Times, there's a long, strange story about how—get this—men are now being adventurous with their hairstyles. Maybe it's because of Robert Pattinson or Simon LeBon or Malcolm Gladwell; everyone seems to have a different idea of what he wants his hair to look like!

Fashion Meets Finance Redux

Editors -
Way back in January, Matt Harvey attended the Fashion Meets Finance party to hob nob with broke bankers and struggling models. Now the Times has decided to give their "non-biased" take on the affair, with a piece by Katherine Bindley in this weekend's Styles section. It's full of softball critiques and, as Foster Kamer at Gawker points out, "Somewhere, buried deep within the confines of the Sunday Styles editorial bullpen, there has to be a style guide filled with euphemisms like 'cheeky' their writers are forced to use in place of designations like 'goddamn ridiculous.' It's probably a great read." Read the entire "Banker Seeks Beauty: Must Be Upbeat (Like the Economy) here."
