Checks Checked

Two unauthorized checks were drawn against a man's bank account. At 12 noon on Friday, August 16, a 64-year-old man living on West 77th Street received a call from his bank representative alerting him to unusual activity on his account. Two checks had been cashed against his account, each in the amount of $3,685. The man did not know the names on the checks. He also said that he did not have check numbers that went up that high, nor had he given permission or authority for the checks to be written and cashed.
