CUNY RACKS UP FELLOWSHIPS

    cuny announced that six professors have won guggenheim fellowships for 2009. the public university tied with princeton university and johns hopkins university for the most fellowships awarded to a college in the nation. the fellowships have been awarded every year since 1925 to professors who have shown creative ability in the arts. "all of us at cuny take enormous pride in the outstanding work of these faculty members," said cuny chancellor matthew goldstein in a statement. the professors are playwright thomas bradshaw of medgar evers college, benjamin carter hett of hunter college and the cuny graduate center, jonathan h. shannon of hunter college, victoria sanford of lehman college, heather hendershot of queens college and the cuny graduate center, and robert courtney smith of baruch college and the cuny graduate center.
