Tablao. The "choreography" portion specifically focuses on
clarifying structural elements of each palo (i.e., llamada, letra,
falseta, remate, etc.) and understanding how to communicate and have
the necessary control when dancing with musicians.
Rebeca Tomás began her dance training in Granada, Spain, later moving
to Madrid, where she trained at the internationally renowned Flamenco
Academy, Amor de Dios. While in Spain, she appeared at tablaos such as
Las Carboneras, Al Andalus, and el Juglar. In the U.S., Rebeca
performs and tours with numerous Flamenco dance companies, including
Edwin Aparicio Flamenco Company, Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, and
Jorge Navarrošs Pasión Flamenca. In spring 2008, she received a grant
from the Jerome Foundation to travel to Sevilla and deepen her studies
in Bata de Cola technique. Also in 2008, she received a scholarship
to attend Jacobšs Pillow Summer Intensive. There, the distinguished
flamenco company Noche Flamenca and Soledad Barrio invited her to join
the company, with whom she has continued to dance and tour
internationally.
